Sweet + smokey and Colorful Avant garde looks

Hi girls! :) I just wanted to share with you two make up looks which I submitted last July for a makeup contest by iambrigitte, click here to see the contest and the other entries. :) Although, I wasn't lucky enough to win because there were so many beautiful entries. :) I actually totally forgot that I have pictures of these two looks and I was browsing thru my pictures and I saw them so I thought of sharing them. :)

Anyway here are the pictures of the two makeup looks.

Sweet and smokey look:

Colorful Avant garde look:

Don't mind the falsies, they kept on falling off because at that time it was my first time trying out false eye lashes! :)

I still have to learn more about applying make up especially in creating avant garde looks. :) It was my first time to do these two looks.

So which of the two did you like better? :)

NOTW: Barbie inspired nails

Hi lovelies! :) For this week I feel happy and girly so I decided to do Barbie inspired nails. :) For this I used Chic Grainy Glaze in Siam. It is a pink polish with pink sandy sparkles. Its sooo pretty and really texteured, for this kind of polish a top coat is not needed because it is textured. :) Then I used multi colored caviar for my accent nails (my ring finger nail on the left hand and my pinky finger nail on the right).

Left hand

Right hand
Isn't it pretty? I am reminded to Barbie whenever I see a pretty pink color that's why I called this Barbie inspired nails.. :)

Does it look good on me? I sure hope so! :)

I really liked the consistency of the chic nail polish, it was very easy to apply and it was very buildable. I used only 2 coats here and the color pay off was really good! And I super love the texture, I can't stop touching my nails! :)

Have you tried this polish yet girls? :) Share your experience. :) Would you like a tutorial on how to do the caviar nails? :)

Make up 101: How to choose the right lip color

Make up 101: Lip color

Hi ladies, for this make up 101, we will discuss how to choose the right lip color. This will help you pick the right lipstick color which will match your skin color and if it will look natural when you put it on.

First, determine your skin color and your undertones. How to do this you say? In order to determine your skin undertone, examine your skin in natural lighting (day light) , avoid examining it in artificial lighting as this may cast a different color and change how your skin undertone looks like.So under natural lighting (near a window usually) and you find that your skin seems to have a pinkish, bluish or maybe greenish tint, you are probably cool toned. And if you tend to see yellow (golden), orange (bronze) or olive color then you are probably warm toned. Although there are some people who tend to have flesh or beige tones and if you think you have that tone then you are considered to have a neutral tone. Another technique which might be easier for you is to look at your inner arm and look at the visible veins, if they are green then you have a warm undertone and if it is blue then you are cool toned.

If you have a warm undertone then opt for lip colors which are coral or have an orange base.
If you have a cool undertone then go for lip colors which are blue based.

Second the lip color that you choose should also match your lifestyle or your personality. If you don't tend to wear a lot of make up and just choose to look natural choose lip colors which are nude or neutrals. But if you prefer to draw attention to your lips then choose bold colors so that your lips will pop.'

Third, try to use lighter shades of lip color in the daytime and use darker shades at night.

Fourth, consider your eye make up when choosing your lip color. Bold, mesmerizing, smokey eyes work best with light neutral lip colors. While light eye make up will complement with deeply colored bold lip colors.

Fifth, if you are going to test lip colors do not swatch it on the back of your hand, but rather in your inner arm near the wrist or on your finger tips as these areas will most likely resemble the natural color of your lips.

Here's a list of some lipsticks with bluish undertones:

1. Chanel Rouge Allure in Lover
2. Chanel Rouge Coco in Rivoli
3. L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge in Ravishing Red
4. MAC Red Lipstick in Red, Russian or Ruby Woo
5. Maybelline Lipstick in Red Revival
6. NARS Lipstick in Fire Down Below
7. Revlon Matte Lipstick in Really Red

Here's a list of lipsticks with coral undertones:
1. Bobbi Brown in Guava
2. Chanel Rouge Allure in Libertine
3. Guerlain Gaby Rouge G
4. Lancome Groupie
5. Milani Cabana Coral
6. Milani Coral Bora Bora
7. NARS in Niagara
8. Urban Decay 5150
9. YSL Peach Passion

Product Review: Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation

Product Review

Cinema secrets ultimate foundation in the shade 200-65
Cinema Secrets is a company based in Burbank, CA. Cinema Secrets founder Maurice Stein formulated this foundation for use in the entertainment industry. Maybe that is why it is called "Cinema Secrets"... hihihi :) But it is not only limited for use by professional make up artists, here in the Philippines it is available for purchase in SM department stores in the cosmetics section or in Landmark. They have an office in Quezon ave although I am not too sure if they also sell products there. As of the moment this is my HG full coverage foundation! It is available in over 50 shades. My shade for this line of foundations is 200-65. You can buy this in two sizes, I got the smaller one and it has already lasted me for about 6 months and still it is half full! It could provide medium to full coverage depending on how you apply it. I love that this is very opaque when applied but it does not feel heavy on the face. It can also double up as a concealer. It can provide a dewy finish when applied using a wet sponge or a matte finish when applied using a brush. If properly applied it looks really flawless it almost looks like an airbrush finish. It is waterproof and also sweat resistant. It really lasts all day on me even if I do not use a sealer. :)

INGREDIENTS list

BOO!!

Doesn't prevent the face from oiling up (for oily skin types try to use a primer first.)
A little bit pricey... (A small pot like this costs about Php 1,000 +), but its worth it!
I cant think of anything else!

REPURCHASE??

Yes, of course when I get to finish this pot! :)

How I apply this foundation:
My bare face...

I don't have perfect skin , I have sensitive skin which is why I have some discolorations and also I have syringoma  under my eyes. I also have big dark circles on my under eye area.
What I use to apply my Cinema Secrets foundation:

I will apply it only to the left side of my face so that you will be able to see a comparison.

I don't apply it all over my face, I just concentrate it in the areas where I want the coverage then I use a wet sponge to blend, blend, blend! :)

This is how it looks like after I blend it in.

My dark under eye and syringoma close up
After applying the foundation
After blending the foundation I use translucent powder to set it. I don't use a powder brush to set my cream foundation, what I do is I use a powder puff and tap/press in the loose powder on to my face. After it is set, I use my powder brush to remove the excess. :)

Make up 101: Brows

 Make up Basics 101: BROWS

If our hair are our “crowning glory” then consider your brows as your “framing glory”. Your eyebrows may make or break your make up look because the brows frame your face. It is a must that you keep your eyebrows clean and noticeable. But remember that not everyone has perfectly symmetrical brows, they may look alike but they are not similar just like twins...

So how do we get the perfect eyebrow shape? Where should your brows should start and end? Here is a simple trick that most makeup artists use.

My brows before... it is close to none existent... right?

Before
First of prepare the items which you will need to groom your brows.

Chopstick , shaver, baby scissors, spoolie, eyebrow pencil
Then follow these simple steps in grooming and shaping your brows:

 1. Look straight into a mirror then holding a thin stick or a thin pencil place it vertically by the bridge of your nose just outside of your nostrils, this is where your eyebrows should start.

2. Then slightly angle it towards the outer edge of your eye this is where your eyebrow should end.

3. To find the arch of your eyebrow line up the stick to the outer edge of your iris.

If you like you can draw lines using an eyebrow pencil to where your natural brow should be, and then pluck out any hairs that fall outside of these lines. But often times the areas which have been plucked don’t grow hair anymore so if you are still not sure of the perfect eyebrow shape that you want it would be best to stay away from plucking or threading and try shaving first.

If you prefer plucking pull the hair swiftly in the direction of their growth, this will prevent ingrown hairs or too large open pores. Also it is best to avoid plucking too much from the top since it will flatten your brows.

After removing the stray hairs you must then trim those hairs which are long and tend to extend beyond your eyebrow shape. To do this you must use a spoolie and small scissors. Brush the brow hairs in an upward direction towards the forehead then trim off the excess hairs extending beyond the lines which you made.

There you now have groomed your brows. Fill it in with pencil, wax or powder, whichever you prefer and try to avoid over filling or what some call as "scouse brows".
